MEDIA RELEASE – SAVE OUR RAIL NSW INCORPORATED
NEWCASTLE HAS HUGE FESTIVAL, MASS TRANSPORT BUT NO INFO

CITYFEST – THE MAJOR event of the year in terms of anticipated numbers, figure of 20,000, comes to Newcastle next weekend.

This is HUGE. Grand transport plans including 28 extra train services to run as shuttles between Broadmeadow and Newcastle.

Look up the Transport Infoline website 131500 – NO MENTION of this event.

The JETS match has been on there for weeks, but this Luis Palau event on our magnificent foreshore, a chance to showcase our harbour – IT’S NOT THERE.

“It seems the NSW Government can’t run a chook raffle, especially if Newcastle is the prize,” said Joan Dawson, Save Our Rail President.

“It almost seems as though there is deliberate sabotage of any promotion of Newcastle as a destination by rail.”

“WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO PROMOTE NEWCASTLE AS A DESTINATION, BUT MY ARTICLES DON’T GET PUBLISHED” she said

“We have looked for glossy brochures in tourist kiosks but they are not there.”

THERE’S NONE AT CENTRAL STATION, OR AT CANBERRA AIRPORT OR ANYWHERE ELSE IT SEEMS

But a June 2012 magazine ran gorgeous pictures of Newcastle Harbour and Nobbys Beach labelled as Lake Macquarie attractions!

“There are no glossy brochures or posters of our gorgeous beaches – instead we have an ex-Premier comparing Newcastle to Beirut!” laments Ms Dawson.

And when we get a big event coming right here, we have the Government not telling how to get here.

Why is it so Tim?
