Pro-rail rally draws hundreds to Civic

CQ_wUtxUsAEdse3.jpg_largeAT least 500 people attended a pro-rail rally at Civic on Sunday morning, timed to highlight concern over the Baird government’s likely push this week to pass rail-closing legislation, reports the Newcastle Herald.

The list of a dozen or so speakers included Greens MLC and transport spokesperson Mehreen Faruqi, Save Our Rail stalwart Joan Dawson and Passmores Business and Management College owner Duncan Passmore.

University of Newcastle academic Roger Markwick … said the new building had five carparking spaces for 4000 students and 400 staff, highlighting the need for efficient public transport.
