As reported in the Newcastle Herald, the state government will have to table to Parliament a string of documents it has been keeping under wraps, relating to its plans to truncate Newcastle’s heavy rail.
… Planning Minister Pru Goward and Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian must provide all emails and other records relating to any meetings or contact with former Newcastle lord mayor Jeff McCloy.
The NSW upper house used its powers on Thursday to order the government to produce the documents, including nearly a dozen reports relating to aspects of its plans to truncate the heavy rail, build a Wickham interchange and install light rail. It has about a fortnight to hand over the documents.
“Now the community will be able to see for themselves what the government’s true agenda is,” Greens upper house MP Mehreen Faruqi said.
Ms Berejiklian’s office declined to comment.
